Werrd Monitor Problem
I'm trying to watch a video on my laptop. It is mpg format. My screen is damaged so I want to watch it on my PC monitor. I have hooked it up many times before and never had a problem.
When I try to watch the video on the PC monitor there is no picture but if I drag it across to my laptop screen there is a picture. What is going on? |
Re: Werrd Monitor Problem
perhaps i get you wrong, but do you use dual monitors?
then there should be an option that you can identify your main monitor. set your monitor as primary, and then you should be able to watch it, or just clone the signal. some laptops have a key combination to do that -> FN + f4 on my hp laptop. perhaps that helps |
Re: Werrd Monitor Problem
Have you tried throwing the monitor out of the window? That sometimes helps.

Re: Werrd Monitor Problem
the video is playing in overlay mode. Set the laptop to clone the screen instead of having two monitors and it *should* display on both.

Re: Werrd Monitor Problem
Most laptops I've seen will have a function button, and a screen selector let's you watch just on the laptop, just on an external monitor, or cloned so it's same on both.

Re: Werrd Monitor Problem
I think I should clarify some points.
1) the actual video is on my laptop, but it is my laptop monitor which is broken. 2) I have hooked up a standard monitor and chosen to 'extend the screen to this monitor' 3) Normally I drag Meadia Player over to the monitor and it plays fine. the problem here is that when I drag it over there is no picture. If I leave it halfway between my laptop screen and my PC monitor I can see the video on the laptop half but not the monitor half. It only happens with this file. |
