Good Comedies
I'm going through a phase where I am watching quite a lot of comedy. As a result, 20-odd episodes of Scrubs lasted only a few days.
I'm struggling to think of anything. I want to watching things I've not seen before (at least not in chronological order) and I need some suggestions. things I am currently watching/have seen a million times before: Scrubs Blackadder Red Dwarf Friends two Pints Of Lager Curb Your Enthusiasm the Office those are just the one of the top of my head, if I think of anymore I'll let you know. Now, go and make me laugh! Edit: I've also seen Brasseye and I'm going to get the Day today. Spaced Darkplace Alan Partridge Phoenix Nights Extras Peep Show |

Alan Partridge
Phoenix Nights Extras (I thought most of it was a pretty poor but a few episodes were worth watching) |
Re: Good Comedies
While more of a Sci/fi program, I've always found that watching episodes of Stargate SG-1 on DVD is a good source of humor.

Re: Good Comedies
I've been repeatedly watching the whole run of Seinfeld for the last two or three months. I am aspiring to become George Costanza.
Curb Your Enthusiasm is enjoyable if you can withstand some of the cringeworthy moments (sort of similar comedy style to Seinfeld obviously). |

Re: Good Comedies
I'm completely in love with The Office, saw them all some while ago. Did anyone see the US versions or even the French, are they any good?
|
Re: Good Comedies
Who's line is it anyway? (US & UK versions)

Re: Good Comedies
on the subject of comedy:
Anyone in London, tomorrow night, go see Rutherford Lodge at the Hen and Chickens, which is near Highbury & Islington station. Best thing I saw at the fringe, and they're putting it on again! |

Re: Good Comedies
Yes Minister, QI, A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Father Ted.
|
Re: Good Comedies
I find Chris Rock specials and movies to be quite hilarious.
The specials do have quite a bit of foul language though but still quite enjoyable. |
Re: Good Comedies
'That 70's Show' is fairly good and consistently funny over 7 of the 8 seasons.
'Two and a Half Men' isn't terrible. I've heard some very good things about a show called 'Green Wing' though I've only seen one episode myself. |
Re: Good Comedies
There's always the Blue Collar Comedy tour DVDs, there's 3 of them so far, plus each of them have there own specials. I've always been a fan of Bill Engvall over the other three.

It indeed is, I would add Seinfeld to that list as well.
A favourite of mine is a comedy called Early Doors. Set in a pub in Manchester, really is funny. Never got the exposure it deserved because they never sold out. |
Re: Good Comedies
Fourth vote for Greenwing.
|
Re: Good Comedies
has anyone else ever watched "Jam"?
I watched a few episodes whilst drunk and it was very very wierd. |
Re: Good Comedies

|
Re: Good Comedies

Fifth vote for GreenWing. Also the League of Gentlemen (series 1 and 2), The Fast Show and Big Train. |

Time Trumpet (written by Armando Iannucci, who co-wrote The Day Today amongst a host of other things) is ace though I don't know if it can be bought in DVD form. He was also the writer for The Thick Of It (excellent 'Yes Minister' style faux-documentary), and was involved in I'm Alan Partridge. They'd combined keep you going a while.

I'm unsure if you'll be able to find episodes, but I loved "Drop The Dead Donkey."

Re: Good Comedies
I don't know (I haven't seen) if they have it on DVD or not, but the show 'Last Comic Standing' is usually good for quite a few laughs. I see re-runs every once in a while on the satellite, but haven't really looked for it lately.

Absolute Power is a great show. House, while not primarily a comedy, is also quite funny at times. |
